Ohio Spiderwort, or Tradescantia ohiensis, is a striking native plant known for its vibrant purple blooms that appear in June and July. Reaching a height of 24 to 48 inches, it thrives in various soil types including clay, loam, and sand, and adapts to dry, medium, and moist soil conditions. Best suited for full to partial sun locations, it is an excellent choice for natural, wild gardens and woodland edges. While it can be an aggressive spreader, its ability to attract bees makes it a valuable addition to ecologically focused landscapes. The flowers open early and close by afternoon, offering a delightful morning display.
