Stiff Coreopsis, known botanically as Coreopsis palmata, is a striking perennial native to prairies and open fields. Reaching a height of 24 to 36 inches, this plant flourishes in full sun and prefers dry to medium moisture conditions, adapting well to loam and sandy soils. From June to August, it blooms with vivid yellow flowers that draw pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Its seeds are a valuable food source for songbirds, and it serves as a host plant for the Wavy-Lined Emerald moth. Though it non-aggressively fills open spaces, its distinct leaf structure adds a touch of uniqueness to gardens. Perfect for mass plantings or as a bold accent in mixed beds.

Prairie Fairy Notes
