Hairy Beardtongue grows to about 18 inches with clusters of purple tubular flowers in May and June. It tolerates full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained loam or sandy soils with dry to medium moisture. Its non-aggressive habit makes it ideal for perennial beds and mixed borders.

Attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds; serves as a larval host for the Baltimore Checkerspot butterfly.
