Nodding Onion grows up to 18 inches tall with slender stalks topped by drooping purple flower clusters in July and August. It thrives in full to partial sun and tolerates clay, loam or sandy soils with medium-dry to medium-wet moisture. Its bulb-forming habit and self-seeding make it ideal for meadows, rock gardens and naturalistic plantings.
Ecological Benefits
Drooping purple blooms are highly attractive to bumblebees, butterflies and other native pollinators, adding seasonal nectar sources to midsummer landscapes.
